Poem #453
English Translation
Persian
O heart, when you are ruined by the rose-colored wine
without gold, you outshine Qarun in a hundred signs.
Do not circle the madmen of Love, stay away
for in intellect, you are known as the Wise One of the day.
The intoxication of Love is not in your head, go
you are but drunk on the grape's water, mere show.
The yellow face and the pain-filled sigh's decree
for lovers, this is the cure for their malady.
Pass beyond your name and fame, O Hafez, be free
seek the goblet of wine, for drunk you must be.
