Persian
Come through the door and illuminate our night-chamber
perfume the air of this spiritual assembly.
ز در در آ و شبستان ما منور کن
هوای مجلس روحانیان معطر کن
If the jurist advises you against the game of love
give him a goblet and say: 'Moisten your brain!'
اگر فقیه نصیحت کند که عشق مباز
پیاله‌ای بدهش گو دماغ را تر کن
I have surrendered my heart and soul to the Beloved's eye and brow
come, and gaze upon that arch and that view.
به چشم و ابروی جانان سپرده‌ام دل و جان
بیا بیا و تماشای طاق و منظر کن
The star of the night of separation sheds no light
climb to the palace roof and raise the lamp of the moon.
ستاره شب هجران نمی‌فشاند نور
به بام قصر برآ و چراغ مه بر کن
Tell the Keeper of Paradise to take the dust of this assembly as a gift to Eden
and burn it as incense there.
بگو به خازن جنت که خاک این مجلس
به تحفه بر سوی فردوس و عود مجمر کن
I am weary of this hypocritical cloak
with a single glance, make this Sufi-like one a true Qalandar.
از این مزوجه و خرقه نیک در تنگم
به یک کرشمه صوفی‌وشم قلندر کن
Since the beauties of the garden are subject to your grace
cast your charm upon the jasmine and display your glory to the pine.
چو شاهدان چمن زیردست حسن تواند
کرشمه بر سمن و جلوه بر صنوبر کن
The meddlesome soul tells many tales, O Cupbearer
do not abandon your task—pour wine into the cup!
فضول نفس حکایت بسی کند ساقی
تو کار خود مده از دست و می به ساغر کن
The ray of Beauty has become the veil of the eye of perception
come, and illuminate the tent of the sun.
حجاب دیده ادراک شد شعاع جمال
بیا و خرگه خورشید را منور کن
Our desire for the sugar of your union knew no limit
refer us now to your ruby lip, sweet as sugar.
طمع به قند وصال تو حد ما نبود
حوالتم به لب لعل همچو شکر کن
Kiss the lip of the cup, then pass it to the drunkards
with this subtle point, moisten the brains of the companions.
لب پیاله ببوس آنگهی به مستان ده
بدین دقیقه دماغ معاشران تر کن
After serving the pleasure and love of the moon-faced ones
memorize the poetry of Hafez as your greatest work.
پس از ملازمت عیش و عشق مه‌رویان
ز کارها که کنی شعر حافظ از بر کن
