Poem #287
English Translation
Persian
Your form is wholly pleasant, and your presence brings delight
My heart is gladdened by your ways, so sweet and sugar-bright.
Your being is as delicate as rose petals in bloom
Like Eden's cypress, fresh and fair, you banish every gloom.
Your coquetry is sweet to see, your mole and line are fine
Your eyes and brows are beautiful, your stature is divine.
My fancy's garden blooms with you, in patterns rich and rare
My heart is perfumed by the scent of your jasmine-scented hair.
Though Love's path lies through floods of woe where safety cannot be
I've made my heart a willing slave to your decree.
How can I thank your languid eyes? For with their magic art
They heal the pain that your fair face has planted in my heart.
Though dangers lurk on every side in Quest's wild desert land
Hafez goes happy, heartless now, protected by your hand.
