Come, for the King's victorious banner is here
good news of triumph for the sun and moon to hear.
بیا که رایتِ منصورِ پادشاه رسید
نویدِ فتح و بشارت به مِهر و ماه رسید
Fortune's beauty has cast aside its veil
justice arrives to hear the seeker's tale.
جمالِ بخت ز رویِ ظفر نقاب انداخت
کمالِ عدل به فریادِ دادخواه رسید
The heavens turn with joy, the moon is bright
the world attains its wish, the King's in sight.
سپهر، دور خوش اکنون کُنَد که ماه آمد
جهان به کامِ دل اکنون رسد که شاه رسید
Now caravans of heart and mind are free
the highwayman is gone, the Guide we see.
ز قاطعانِ طریق این زمان شوند ایمن
قوافلِ دل و دانش که مَرد راه رسید
Egypt's dear Joseph, despite his brothers' hate
rose from the well to rule the moon's estate.
عزیزِ مصر به رغمِ برادران غیور
ز قعرِ چاه برآمد به اوجِ ماه رسید
Where is that Sufi, Antichrist in guise?
Burn him! The Mahdi comes to clear the skies.
کجاست صوفیِ دَجّال فِعلِ مُلحِدشکل
بگو بسوز، که مهدیِّ دین پناه رسید
O breeze, report what grief has done to me
what fire and smoke my sighing heart set free.
صبا بگو که چهها بر سرم در این غمِ عشق
ز آتشِ دلِ سوزان و دودِ آه رسید
O King, your absence burns this captive so
as fire consumes the straw in sudden glow.
ز شوقِ رویِ تو شاها بدین اسیرِ فراق
همان رسید کز آتش به برگِ کاه رسید
Sleep not, for Hafez reached the court of grace
through midnight prayers and dawn's embracing space.
مرو به خواب که حافظ به بارگاهِ قبول
ز وِردِ نیمْ شب و درسِ صبحگاه رسید
Cultural Context
